2008 is here already!

The season has cracked off with some great riding conditions here at Orewa Beach. This past week it has been blowing 25 to 30 knots for at least 4 days in a row.
Some of the best wave riding conditions this beach has seen rolled in on Sunday with the incoming tide. Of course I had to make the most of the conditions pushing in in front of the shop.
Hardly another kiter in the area and riding the over head high waves the length of the beach was sensational. For the most part it was just two of us out there, Mark O on his 9m Waroo and me on the Nemesis 9m.
Of course there were other riders out but most were staying in front of the car park at the south end of the beach like they always do. So we had the best and biggest waves to ourselves.
We were really well powered as it was one crazy storm blowing in. Such an amazing day on the water.
I'm sure everyone who went kiting this weekend has some epic adventures to tell, as it seemed the whole country enjoyed good strong winds.

Anabatic Kite Camp - Doubtless Bay, Northland.

When: From Waitangi Day - 6th to 10th February 2008.
Wednesday the 6th is a Public Holiday, so take the Thursday and Friday off work to make it an awesome Kiteboarding 1/2 week holiday.

Where: Same place as always. We are heading to Tokerau Beach in Doubtless Bay.
It is about 4 hrs drive North from Auckland and has amazing wind and kiting conditions for all riding levels.

You can walk over the dunes to the beach and go kiting.
It is $10-12 per night, basic facilities with hot showers and a camp kitchen. It is off peak camping time so we should enjoy a really relaxed environment.
Cabins are available if you book early.
