Dear Subscribers,

I am sending out this email in plain text without images to see if it gets past the spam filters better.
A lot of Windows users (not me I'm on a MAC) will find many emails sent from friends and family automatically end up in the junk bin just because photos are attached.
So this weeks News letter is image free as a trial. A bit dull I know but lets wait a week and see who got  the email ok.
Send me a quick reply if you have the time.

This week in NZ Kiting...
A couple of monster storms lashed NZ in the past two weeks as I'm sure you are aware.
There were several unlucky  Kiters who in a good 30knots of wind took a beating beyond what they expected.
There were a few injuries and we wish the riders well and a speedy recovery.
But lets not forget, the bow kite as safe as it is can not make up for misadventure. Ride hard but be careful out there, especially in those rare +30 knot days. As it can all go wrong so fast.
As usual I played it safe and stuck to my self imposed kiting limits of 30-35knots and not crazy stuff. This ensured one exceptional wave riding session chasing big waves from one end of Orewa beach to the other.
I did get washed up on the beach at one point and had to re rig so I didn't get off without a warning from mother nature myself.
But a couple of others had wrenched their backs and ribs pretty bad so I felt pretty good compared to that.
The nuclear winds that arrived the following day were only good for riders seeking Bragging Rights, and that's not my style plus I have a healthy respect for my own safety too. So I let the 35-40 knot winds blow by without even heading to the beach to watch and wait for someone to screw up. The news of guys going into trees or getting messes up in mangroves spreads pretty fast anyway.
The easterlies are forecast to return for this weekend so it might be another good weekend to explore the east coast.
Orewa, Mangawahi, Te Ari, Snells and Omaha would all be worth a look.
If your staying south of the bridge check out Eastern Beach and duders peninsula in the far East of Auckland.
